Canon's Pixma MP160 is an 'all-in-one' consumer color inkjet printer that can scan documents and images onto your computer's hard drive or print them. You can use the MP160 to scan documents such as tax papers, book pages or a school syllabus, then, once they are on your computer, email them, archive them for your records or use them as part of a digital project.
1.
Open the MP Navigator software that was included with the MP160. If you haven't yet installed the software, insert the software disc into your computer and then follow the installation instructions as they appear. Once finished, click the program's icon to open it.
2.
Press 'Scan' on the MP160 if you're using the printer for the first time; otherwise you can skip this step. A list of software options will appear. Use the arrow keys to select 'MP Navigator,' then press the 'OK' button.
3.
Open the scanner lid. Lay your document face-down onto the glass so that one of its corners is flush with the designated corner of the scanner's glass; this corner has a slight marking that sets it apart from the other three corners. Close the scanner lid.
4.
Press the 'Scan' button. The MP160 will scan your document and transfer it to the MP Navigator software on your computer, where you can then adjust the resulting document image and save it to your computer.
